Ian Somerhalder After 'The Vampire Diaries': Actor And Wife Nikki Reed Try Getting Pregnant As Series Nears Its End

Fans of Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed are already asking about the pair's baby making plans. While it remains to be a very private matter between the married couple, Ian still shared some details about his and her wife's goals for this year.

Speaking with ET Online, "The Vampire Diaries" mainstay opened up about wanting to have kids and the reported impending end of his popular show with ex-girlfriend Nina Dobrev. The actor dished on the possibility of starting a family soon, now that his schedule is starting to clear up.

"It's the most incredible thing to be happy and secure in something," he said. "It's a pretty crazy time and place to bring a child into this turbulent and insane world -- but I really can't wait to do it and really just love it." The actor continued to say that babies are the "coolest little things in the world," and that people should "Standby" for any updates.

When it came to TVD, Ian dished on the possibility of the show finally airing its final season. While nothing has been set on stone, the actor did confess that there have already been talks about it.

"It's something that everyone is talking about and there is a lot of speculation about it because we're so far into it," he explained. "I'll be honest with you, right now we're just trying to get through this one and just make this a really, really good season of television."

Ian and Nikki's marriage has been a hot topic of tabloid rumors in the past, often involving Ian's former flame Nina. Tabloids are claiming that the actor has been faking his happiness with Nikki to convince the public that their marriage is smooth-sailing. Celeb Dirty Laundry even mentioned that the actor is really miserable, and continued to claim that the couple is obviously trying hard to be relationship goals material on social media.

Despite the negative reports, Ian and Nikki remain unfazed. Both are also focusing on their respective careers as of the moment.
