Three-Month Old Indian Baby Investigated for Possible Spontaneous Human Combustion

A three-month old Indian baby is being tested for possible spontaneous human combustion, according to the New York Times.

The infant is currently being treated at the Kilpauk Medical College Hospital in Chennia, India, after his parents claimed he caught on fire four separate times.

Rajeshwari Karnan, mother of the boy told ABC News that she found her baby on fire in her hut after she was left alone for a short while, nine days after he was born.

"There was a flame on his belly and his right knee, and my husband rushed with a towel to put it off," Karman told the New York Times.

The parents of the boy also confirmed that this wasn't an isolated case. There have also been three similar instances even after they took the baby to a local hospital for treatment, the Indy Channel reported.

The parents eventually traveled to Kilpauk Medical College Hospital for extensive treatment where doctors are now investigating the possibility that the infant may have suffered from spontaneous human combustion.

The doctors have also examined the child, Rahul, for a host of other medical conditions including possible child abuse.
