'Frozen' TV Special 2017 Cast, News, Update: Hit Disney Film Continues In TV Movie Holiday Special, 'Frozen' Is Broadway Bound

Not one but two "Frozen" treats this way will come with Disney's animated musical "Frozen" set to air for a 2017 TV movie holiday special and a 2018 Broadway run. The blockbuster film's main characters Anna and Elsa had previously only been seen in a short film called "Frozen Fever" and in the TV series "Once Upon A Time" since "Frozen (2013)" hit the big screens.

Disney announced that the animated film will be relived on TV with the much-loved characters Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, Olaf and Sven. Original voice cast members Idina Menzel (who voiced for Elsa), Kristen Bell (who voiced for Anna) and Josh Gad (who voiced for Olaf) have been confirmed to be on board for the special. Oscar-winner Roy Conli, known for his work on "Big Hero 6," will produce for the TV movie. The 2017 holiday special will be aired on ABC and will be directed by Emmy winners Kevin Deters, who best know for "Brother Bear," and Stevie Wermers-Skelton, who is best known for "Tarzan" and "Brother Bear."

According to The New York Times, Disney also announced that "Frozen" will be seen in a stage adaptation on Broadway. The musical will feature global favorite "Let It Go." Work on "Frozen" will begin production work outside of New York beginning the summer of 2017 before the musical is mounted in Broadway. Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez, who were the writers and lyricists for "Frozen" on film, will also be the writers for Frozen on stage. Jennifer Lee who co-wrote the screenplay and co-directed the movie will also be part of the stage production.

Disney further stated that Alex Timbers, who directed "Rocky," will take the helm for "Frozen." Tony winner Peter Darling, best known for "Billy Elliot" will choreograph. Seven-time Tony winner Bob Crawley will be in charge of scenic and costume design.
