Meat industry is still one of the highest income generators nowadays, but there is now a quite number of people who chose not to buy and eat meat products. One big reason could be that they chose to have a healthier lifestyle in eating only vegetables.

Eating meat is commonly linked to diseases like cancer. According to BBC News, processed meats such as sausage, salami, hotdog, bacon, corned beef, and all canned meat products are modified to improve its taste and extend its shelf life.

Preservatives that are added to the meat in this process has chemicals that can cause cancer. High temperature cooking of meat can also produce carcinogen, which is one of the known causes of cancer.

1.      Blood cholesterol level goes down

According to a study as posted by Forks Over Knives page, people who are eating vegetables had a 35% drop in blood cholesterol level. Vegetable foods have low saturated fat has no cholesterol. As commonly suggested by health professionals, cholesterol is one of the main causes of heart disease and stroke.

2.      Good bacteria dominates and microbiome becomes more efficient

When you stop eating meat, your gut bacteria decreases in number. Good bacteria becomes more dominant which is good in your stomach. The body's micro-organisms or so called microbiome works better when you go vegetarian. Microbiome helps our body digest food faster, makes our immune system stronger and it even produces some nutrients that our body needs.

3.      You lose some pounds

According to Prevention page, Dr. Neal Bernard, president of the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine has founded a group who are promoting vegetarian diet to prevent diseases and the clinical results have shown that participants are significantly losing some weight with an average of 7.5 lbs.

4.      Muscles won't develop well and need more time to recover

Protein is essential in our body because it helps build stronger muscles. Without protein, your body will experience more fatigue and unexpected weight loss. You can still get protein though in non-meat products like soy milk and green peas.

5.      Lesser risk of type 2 diabetes

When you eat meat, your pancreatic cells get damaged because of nitrate preservatives and animal fats. If your pancreas is damaged, it can't produce enough insulin that the body needs. This gives you a higher risk in having type 2 diabetes. If you change your eating lifestyle to vegetarian, this will lessen your risk of getting diabetes.
