‘Castle’ Season 8 News & Updates: ABC Series Renewed Without Stana Katic and Nathan Fillion?

Good news: "Castle" Season 8 may still be renewed for another season. The bad news: Its lead stars, Stana Katic and Nathan Fillion may no longer be in it. Can the ABC police procedural drama live on even without Castle and Beckett?

"Castle" Season 8 has been rumored to be the show's last on TV, as ratings continue to drop in each episode. The drop in the ratings is said to be due to the show's storyline, especially when Rick Castle (Nathan Fillion) and Det. Kate Beckett (Stana Katic) decided to break up.

Back then, many fans threatened to stop watching the show altogether, as many fans loved Castle and Beckett aka "Caskett" together. TV by the Numbers reported that "Castle" Season 8 remains to get a low rating despite countless attempts at bringing the pair back together on the show.

The publication noted that "Castle" Season 8 has received a 1.12 rating in the 18-49 demographic, with a 0.74 score in the renew/cancel index. According to the outlet, the ABC crime drama may no longer see the light of the day if these ratings continue to go on for the show.

However, in an earlier interview, ABC head Paul Lee revealed that "Castle" may be renewed after Season 8. The catch? The show may go on with or without Stana Katic and Nathan Fillion.

Youth Health Magazine reported that there are ongoing rumors that the show may produce a spin-off of the series. This spin-off, however, may no longer see Fillion's character in it.

As most fans and viewers can remember, Katic worried a lot of fans when she did not immediately renew her contract for Season 8. Katic and Fillion's contracts will soon be up for renewal once again, will they still choose to reprise their respective roles in the series?

Do you think "Castle" can survive without Nathan Fillion or Stana Katic or should the show come to an end in Season 8? Sound off in the comments section below!
