‘Judge Judy’ a Hoax? Insider Claims Show Pays Guests for Appearances

"Judge Judy" remains at the top of the most watched syndicated shows on TV but a recent report claims that the reality show is a hoax. An insider claims that everything and everyone on the show is paid for their appearance.

A recent report from Globe revealed that "Judge Judy" is a hoax, as an insider claimed through a letter that prospective guests are paid all throughout the show, Celeb Dirty Laundry reported. According to the publication, guests who will be making an appearance in the reality show are paid between $150 to $500 regardless of Judge Judith Sheindlin's decision.

The publication, however, noted that this claim is nothing surprising. The publication stated that most people are already aware of the fact that anyone who appears in any show is paid for their presence.

Aside from this, "Judge Judy" has reportedly listed a disclaimed by the end of the show, which reads, "Both the plaintiff and the defendant have been paid from a fund for their appearance. The amount, if any, awarded in the case, is deducted from this fund, and the remainder is divided equally between both litigants. The amount of the fund is dependent in the size of the judgment."

This rumor may have something to do with the fact that "Judge Judy" remains unbeatable in the list of syndicated TV shows. According to TV by the Numbers, the courtroom show remained at the top spot during the first week of February.

The publication stated that "Judge Judy" drew a 7.8 household rating, with a 3.4 rating in the women 25-54 demographic. The show is then followed by "Weekend Adventure" at 7.6, "Wheel of Fortune" at 7.4, "Family Feud" at 6.9 and "Jeopardy" at 6.7.

According to the outlet, "Judge Judy" has been at the top spot for the past 32 weeks. "Dr. Phil" and "Live with Kelly and Michael" were the top two syndicated daytime talk shows in the same period.
