'Need For Speed' Release Date, News & Update: Know the PC Requirements

Electronic Arts has just announced that everyone's favorite high-speed racing game, "Need For Speed," will be available for play on PC on March 17. Luckily for those who have subscribed to Origin Access, they can get their hands on the beloved console game as early as March 10.

Although the game has already been released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, the PC version of the game boasts of the same new features that have been added to the console versions, which include manual transmission play.

"One of the big reasons it's worth waiting for a PC port of racing titles like 'Need For Speed' is that they often run at higher frame rates, rather than the 30FPS cap on consoles," explains Jon Martindale of Digital Trends.

He continued, "That sort of thing is much more noticeable in fast-paced titles like racers, so it makes sense - but of course you need the hardware to be able to output all those extra frame rates."
