Most of the soda beverage companies are now considering to have their products with lesser sugar and some are even sugar-free.  Does drinking diet sodas really prevent weight gain?

In one famous brand of soda, a 330ml can have no sugar at all and contains less than 1 calorie. They specially blended their diet soda with low-calorie sweeteners that make it healthier than regular soda that has 38 calories per 100 grams of soda drink.

Cons:

Diet soda contains artificial sweeteners that confuse your body according to Health page. Artificial sweeteners are sweeter than real sugar. When you drink a can or two diet soda drink, your pancreas will shoot out an ample amount of insulin and the body's normal response would be to store fat.

This means drinking diet sodas in a long-term may increase your risk of obesity. Instead of losing weight, you will gain more.

In a study from the University of Minnesota, diet soda drinkers have a higher risk of getting type 2 diabetes because of metabolic syndrome. Diet soda drinkers will develop metabolic syndrome wherein they started to have health conditions like high blood pressure, high glucose levels and high cholesterol.

People who are drinking diet soda beverages are highly likely to have a stroke, heart disease, and diabetes. It is important to choose your preferred drink wisely to avoid this kind of health problems.
