George Strait Announces End of His Tour at the AT&T Stadium

George Straight announced the second and final leg of his farewell tour which will kick off January 9 in Bossier City, Louisiana, according to Pop Culture.

Media entities were invited at the AT&T Stadium where Straight announced his upcoming event. However, the final date and venue of his concerts are still pending finality. "It will be a hell of an ending, whenever we do it," said Strait.

Strait was flanked by Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and veteran concert promoter Louis Messina said wrapping up his two-year long "The Cowboy Rides Away" tour will be a "little bittersweet" after decades on the road. "It's sinking in a little more and more every day," he said.

George has invited some familiar names as opening acts for this final leg of the tour including major headline superstars. Among the names mentioned include Sheryl Crow, Vince Gill, Miranda Lambert, Ronnie Dunn and Merle Haggard.

Strait also shared that Haggard was the man who "got me into Bob Willis and Western Swing" with his 1970 record A Tribute to the Best Damn Fiddle Player in the World. Strait said it seemed only appropriate to invite Haggard and the others - some upstarts with whom he's never performed, some chart-toppers to whom he gave their start to his final "blast off."

Sources also confirmed that Straigt isn't retiring. He just announced his five-album extension to his longtime contract with MCA Nashville. He said he's been writing again, in part to squash the sole regret of his career that he long ago put down the pen and relinquished the songwriting to others.

"My plan is to keep doing thing here and there, when I feel like it," he said. "Hopefully those opportunities will come along for me 'cause I can't see hanging it up for good forever."
