Mac OS X 10.12 Release Date, News & Update: Siri Coming to Mac Menu Bar

Apple is planning Siri to be used on Mac in the upcoming operating system, OS X 10.12, later this year. The computer program is set to be present on all Apple gadgets, as it already makes its way in Apple Watch and Apple TV, and will be seen in the OS X menu bar.

Users will also have the privilege to set the Speech Interpretation and Recognition Interface on a keyboard shortcut or use other settings with System Preferences. However, locating Siri on the top right menu bar can automatically activate the voice control feature.

Mac consumers can see a clear, shady Siri interface in the top right corner of the screen once they click the Siri key. It will introduce multicolored sound waves as a signal of the speech input.

However, the said interface might not its finishing design and may still change on its upcoming launch in the fall, some sources said. "Like with recent versions of iOS, users will be able to enable Siri at the first startup of OS X 10.12," they added.

Moreover, users can also use "Hey Siri" voice commands like on the new iPhones and iPads when plugged. It is also the most anticipated key features of the OS X 10.12, codenamed "Fuji," along with some "minor user interface tweaks.

However, it has been said that the forthcoming changes will not be as major as the past OS X Yosemite in 2014. To recall, Apple first launched Siri in 2011 for iPhone 4S and continued to submerge as the extended highlight to iPad, iPod touch, Apple TV, and Apple Watch models.

It has been known that Siri can be used as a virtual assistant that the user can command to search the web, launch apps, look up for something, play music, check the weather, call someone and more. Additionally, OS X 10.12 is possible to be announced at the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference WWDC before its official released in fall.
