Kate Middleton Sparkles at Awards Function as Prince William Quits Military (PHOTOS)

Almost two months after giving birth to Prince George Alexander Louis, the Duchess of Cambridge stepped out for her first post-pregnancy red carpet appearance in a dazzling gown and simple make-up.

It was pretty obvious from Catherine Middleton's face that motherhood is keeping her occupied. She looked tired but still managed to flash her gorgeous smile throughout the Tusk Conservation Awards at the Royal Society, London. The 31-year-old duchess wore a floor-length Jenny Packham sequined gown that was teamed up with Jimmy Choo heels and a simple yet classy bracelet.

Known for her minimal make-up, Kate did not experiment much with colors for this event and donned her usual hairdo of loose soft locks. Her husband, Prince William, looked smart as ever, in a black suit with a bow tie.

The beaming father couldn't help but tell the guests to "excuse" them if they are caught checking their cell phones every other minute for their baby George. "As you might have gathered, Catherine and I have recently become proud parents -- of a baby who has a voice to match any lion's roar!" William said. "This is actually our first evening out without him, so please excuse us if you see us nervously casting cheeky glances at our mobile phones to check all is well back home."

Prior to attending the awards event, Prince William announced that he will quit his active military duty as search-and-rescue pilot in the Royal Air Force and concentrate only on his royal engagements. He served in the military for seven and a half years. The officials at Kensington Palace said the Duke "is currently considering a number of options for public service."

Recently, the royal couple announced that 71-year-old Jessie Webb, who was nanny to Prince William and brother Harry, will be the nanny for their son too.
