Beyonce May Become The Next James Bond: Daniel Craig To Hand The '007' Sceptre To ‘Formation’ Singer?

Beyonce Knowles taking over as James Bond from Daniel Craig is the latest buzz. Certainly Beyonce has had an impressive and bankable turn as Foxxy Cleopatra in "Austin Powers." Beyonce as Xania in "The Pink Panther" was also well-received. In "Dreamgirls," Beyonce's acting skills were tried as Beyonce played Deena Jones. However, having Beyonce take up the baton for spy-thriller James Bond, which has been a traditionally and quintessentially male character, is an entirely different story.

Beyonce' name came up over Daniel Craig's much-reported retirement from the James Bond franchise. While James Bond fans are hoping that Daniel Craig would give the franchise one final turn for "James Bond 25," Shortlist reports that Craig's friend Mark Strong ("The Brothers Grimsby") believes that Daniel Craig has ended his run as James Bond with "Spectre." However, the decision may not be Daniel Craig's alone.

"Do you know what, I'd have loved to have played the villain in a Bond movie while Daniel was doing it because he's a pal and that would have been great," Strong stated. "But I think he's come to the end of his Bond time and so it's probably never going to happen, but that would have always been great...But there are powers at work greater than us who make all these decisions."

According to IGN, EON Productions' Gregg Wilson spoke about plans for "James Bond 25" and about shopping around for the ideas on James Bond's next villain and threat. Wilson, however, made no mention of shopping around for a new James Bond.

"We have just begun to talk about ideas for the next movie. Each script process begins when we ask ourselves the question: 'What is the world afraid right now,'" Wilson said. "We always wants to do something new with the Bond character and see him in situations we have not seen him in the past. We have to give the audience something new every time."

Inquistr reports that a recent list compiled by Newsweek on possible heirs to the James Bond legacy came up with five names. These are Idris Elba ("Star Trek Beyond"), Tom Hardy ("Mad Max: The Wasteland"), James Norton ("War & Peace"), John Boyega ("Star Wars: Episode 8") and Beyonce Knowles ("Cadillac Records").
