Dog Stress Signal: When All's Not Quite Right In Your Dog

Humans get to feel stressed sometimes so as your pet canine companion. Most dog parents identify that their dogs are anxious and uncomfortable when they are whining, cowering and having a tucked tail.

Stress can have negative effects on your dog's health. It is recommendable that you take care of your pet dogs. This includes knowing the dog's stress signal and taking action to help them.

Pet MD and 4 Paws University share the following common signs that your dog might be stressed:

1.       Lose his appetite

If your dog suddenly loses his appetite and doesn't want to eat anymore, your dog is stressed or may have an underlying condition. It is advisable that you bring him to a veterinarian right away.

2.       Sleeping more than usual

A dog that is always sleeping than his normal sleep schedules is a sign of stress. Consult your veterinarian about the sleeping condition of your dog.

It might also be that your dog is overly lethargic which signals that he might be traumatized, sick or injured. These may cause diseases such as liver and heart problems, diabetes and diarrhea, among others.

3.       Lips and Nose Licking

Dog's lip and nose licking other than the normal way is a sign of stress, too.

4.       Isolation

Your dog is stressed if he isolates himself. He might be sick or anxious. Visit the veterinarian to recognize the cause of his strange behavior.

5.       Aggressive Actions

A dog that is aggressive towards other animals or people might signal that he is sick or stressed. Go to a veterinarian right away before he will get worse.

Besides consulting a veterinarian when your dog is stressed, you may also help reduce his anxiety. Take time to play and exercise with your dog regularly. Visit you dog often and give him toys. Likewise, provide your pet dog with a high-quality dog food. With these, your pet dog will forget his anxiety and will certainly enjoy living with you for the rest of his life.
