Toddler's Liver Transplant Nearly Hindered By Blizzard; This Story Will Bring You Tears

A blizzard that hit the Midwest earlier last week almost hindered a toddler from getting the liver that she needs for her transplant operation on Feb. 24. But thanks to FedEx and the company's generosity, the child was able to make it for her surgery.

In a report made by ABC7 Chicago, the liver is for a toddler named Brooklyn Faris, an adopted child from China by Jesse and Nicholas Faris. It has been over a year since Brooklyn's adoptive parents were waiting for her to be on top of the organ donor list when finally they got a call that a liver has been available for their child.

According to My Fox, the only problem was they would have to fly all the way from Tennessee where they are from to Lurie Children's Hospital in Chicago in the middle of the Midwest blizzard. Brooklyn's mother Jesse told the press, "I'd been trying to come to peace with the fact that we might wait a long time. To get the call that day was shocking."

A liver donor matching the toddler's requirements has finally been found on Feb. 24 and given the weather that week, going to Chicago would be so difficult since flights were mostly cancelled, roads were closed and no drivers would be able to stand that snow storm.

But a miracle happened when the company FedEx based in Memphis decided to help. "When we learned of the extraordinary circumstances and extreme urgency of the situation with Brooklyn, we knew we had to do something." The family was so grateful since the company offered its corporate jet to fly them over to Chicago to make it just in time for Brooklyn's operation.

Brooklyn is now recovering from her successful surgery and her parents couldn't wait to take her home soon. A lesson could be learned from this toddler's story and that there is always hope and when it seems that hope couldn't be found in the middle of such impossibilities. Little did you know, someone out there is about to bend the universe to make things happen.
