Princess Victoria Pregnancy: Prince Daniel of Sweden Gets A Baby Boy

The Swedish Royal Court formally announced that the Princess Victoria of Sweden's baby boy was born at the Karolinska University Hospital in Stockholm at 8:28PM local time on Tuesday, weighing eight pounds and measuring 22 inches long. Prince Daniel Westling stayed at the hospital during the entire birth of his second child, confirming to the media that both the princess and her newborn child are doing well.

The new baby was said to be third in line in the throne next to his mother and his elder sister, four-year-old Princess Estelle. Westling said that he had not said anything about the birth of their newborn boy to her sister yet, and have kept the gender of their baby a secret.

To their surprise, the baby was a boy! The Prince confessed that there are tears streaming down his face, just like the time Princess Estelle was born. "Everyone is very happy," Westling declared. The Duke of Västergötland also noted that Princess Estelle was excited about being an older sister.

The name of the newest addition to the royal family would be announced by King Carl XVI Gustaf after a Cabinet meeting, likely Thursday. In addition, congratulatory lists will be available at the Royal Palace to celebrate the recent birth. The public and members of the diplomatic corps will be able to leave their written messages to congratulate The Crown Princess Couple in the list.

The Royal Family requested that the information of the baby boy stay private and to give the family the same respect they asked for when Princess Estell was born four years ago. The Prince then shared his gratitude to the people for granting the family's wishes.
