'Kingdom Hearts 3' News & Updates: 'KH3' to Feature 3 Playable Characters

Square Enix's "Kingdom Hearts 3" has seen many speculations and rumors since its initial announcement at E3 2013. This latest batch of rumors suggests three new playable characters and potential Disney worlds.

It's been three years since Japanese game developer Square Enix announced the development of the crossover role-playing game "Kingdom Hearts 3" during the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2013.

Rumors that the game will be launched sometime in late 2015 have never materialized. Following an Amazon listing of "Kingdom Hearts 3," new rumors suggest that the game title will be released on Dec. 30, 2016.

A recent report from Yibada claims that "Kingdom Hearts 3" will come with a modified battle system and three new playable characters. Director of the "Kingdom Hearts 3" game title, Tetsuya Nomura, stated previously that fans will have the capability to control at least three characters at once and hinted towards the feature of multiple players.

As of the moment, the game franchise already has seen two playable characters in "Kingdom Hearts 2," Sora and Nobody Roxas. However, Nomura did not divulge any specifics regarding which characters will be playable in "Kingdom Hearts 3." According to Latin Times, fans can also expect to find multiple Keyblade users in the coming title.

Movie Pilot notes that aside from the three playable characters, more Disney worlds will be added to the franchise joining "Tangled," "Hercules" and "Big Hero 6." Square Enix could possibly add worlds from "The Emperor's New Groove," "Monsters Inc." and "Wall-E." Due to fans demand for new worlds, "Wreck-It Ralph," "Frozen," "Brave," "The Jungle Book" and "Toy Story" are also rumored to join the game.

Meanwhile, voice actor Jim Cummings hinted in a recent interview that he will be voicing Tigger and Winnie the Pooh in "Kingdom Hearts 3." If this is to be confirmed then it signifies that the "100 Acre Woods" will return in the game.
