'The Good Wife' Season Finale Spoilers, Cast News: Show Ends With Peter In Jail? Producers Talk Potential Spinoff

There's only a handful of episodes left on "The Good Wife" Season 7 after its final run was confirmed by show creators Michelle and Robert King. Will the season finale put Peter back in jail and come full circle? The Kings also discuss what might happen next after the show ends.

"The Good Wife" introduced "Glee" star Matthew Morrison in Sunday's episode as U.S. prosecutor Conor Fox. He's been throw into the mix to investigate Gov. Peter Florrick's (Chris Noth) activities during the 2012 election and Fox is determined to get a conviction. "[He's] completely morally sound and he will do anything to uphold the law," said Morrison about his role via Access Hollywood.

If Fox succeeds in proving that Peter did something illegal, this won't be the first time the character lands in jail. It should be recalled that when "The Good Wife" premiered in 2009, the premise circled around Peter's jail time. The then State's Attorney of Cook County was arrested for engaging in prostitution and corruption. He left wife his wife, Alicia (Julianna Margulies), to pick up the pieces of his scandal.

Next week's episode of "The Good Wife" will shift focus from Peter's case to the events at Alicia's firm and her budding romance with the investigator Jason Crouse (Jeffrey Dean Morgan). However, the underlying story about Peter will ultimately determine the end of the show.

"I was supposed to do four episodes and it looks like I'm going to be going all the way to very end now. If I do all of them, then it will be seven episodes," confirmed Morrison via The Hollywood Reporter.

Meanwhile, the show creators told Deadline that they are open to the idea of a spinoff when "The Good Wife" bows out in May. Among the favored characters that fans would like to see in the potential spinoff include Elsbeth Tascioni (Carrie Preston), Diane Lockhart (Christine Baranski) and Eli Gold (Alan Cummings), per Zap2It.
