Tech News Update: Will Nokia Release Their Line of Smartphones?

Nokia fans are thrilled upon hearing the news that their favorite phone company will be making a huge comeback. Though Nokia's CEO made an official announcement that Nokia is being acquired by Microsoft, news broke out that they will be releasing their latest phone models which are rumored to be this year.

According to Snappy Trends website, Nokia's CEO made a surprising during Nokia's 150th anniversary on May 12, 2015. Nokia announced that they will be making a comeback by releasing a line of android phones. Though most of the company's Finnish technology was already bought by Microsoft via a multi-million dollar arrangement last year, Nokia still has a few parts in its sleeves.

According to GSM Arena, Nokia's CEO Rajeev Suri said that the company is on its way to putting its name on 2016 smartphones. Though it was announced that Nokia will be back on the smartphone market, they company will no longer produce handsets. Nokia will only be focusing on the smartphone designs and licensing.

"There's no timeline, there's no rush," Suri stated during a press event. "It could happen in 2016, it could happen later."

Mobile World Congress then added that Suri was asked as to whether Nokia would partner with Foxconn, a company that also works with Apple in manufacturing their iPhones. Nokia's CEO, however, cited that he is still unsure as to what the future will bring to towards the Nokia.

"We want to be in a position to design the devices in question with appropriate control measures in case they don't meet expectations," said Suri. "The recognition of the brand is still very high in all the major markets we think it's a good business model."

Despite the fact that Nokia no longer produces phones for now, the company is still moving forward in terms of working with other projects. After Nokia acquired Alcatel-Lucent, it is focused on establishing 5G mobile networks. Nokia is currently working in paving a way for a more effective technology in the industry of connected devices.
