Allergy Relief: 4 Natural Home Remedies That Would Reduce Your Discomfort Caused By Allergies

Allergy is the most common health problem among children and adults all around the globe. In the US, there are at least two out of ten who are affected by the said health condition.

WebMD states that people with allergies have an immune system that responds to allergens around the environment such as animal dander, dust, mold, weed, and pollen among others. Its symptoms include nasal congestion, rashes, itchy eyes and skin, wheezing, and sneezing. Though there are medications that you can take, there are also home remedies that you may try to lessen your allergy attack.

WebMD and Wellness Mama listed the following natural home remedies that could relieve you from the discomfort of allergy:

1.  Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar can lessen the mucous production and wash the lymphatic system. This makes it effective for allergies. It is recommended to mix about 1 teaspoon of organic and unfiltered apple cider vinegar in a glass of water. Drink it thrice a day.

2.  Air Filter (HEPA Filter)

Allergens may hang in the air or rest on your pillows, bed sheets, rugs, countertops and furniture among others. It is recommendable that you clean your environment to prevent asthma triggers and allergy. It is also good that you have an air filter which is an HEPA filter that can capture pollen-sized harmful particles. Vacuum is also recommended with an HEPA filter. This can blow the allergens.

3.  Probiotics

Studies reveal that probiotics, which are healthy bacteria in the digestive tract, can lessen the allergy symptoms such as congestion and running nose. Foods that contain probiotics are milk drink kefir and yogurt. Probiotics supplements are also available.

4.  Saline Solution

Saline solution or salt water may remove the irritants that are clogged in the nose. It can also wash away the inflammatory cells. You can make your own saline solution by mixing a teaspoon of salt and a pinch of baking soda in distilled water. Sniff the solution into the nostril one at a time once or twice a day. A ready-made saline solution is also available in the drugstore that you can buy.
