Apple MacBook Pro 2016, Macbook Air 2016 Release Date, News & Updates: Upcoming Laptops Likely to Be Announced at Apple March 21 Launch Event

The last updates of Apple MacBook Pro laptops came in March and May 2015 respectively. That means that the new updates are expected any day now, and the Apple launch event on March 21 is the most probable time for the MacBook Pro line update.

Right now, there are two sizes of MacBook Pro models: a 13-inch model and a 15-inch model. There's a big possibility that Apple will launch a new MacBook model, and according to experts, this may be announced at the Apple March 21 launch event.

The 13-inch MacBook Pro model was updated a year ago and Apple often launches new laptops at this time of the year. However, there are no hints in the invite to the March 21 event that suggest any laptop announcements.

The March 21 event is supposed to focus on the iPad Air 3 and the iPhone SE. It is possible that Apple will organize a separate Mac event shortly after. However, tech experts and consumers are still hoping that the high-tech giant will make a surprise announcement of the MacBook Pro 2016 at the March 21 event.

Apple's competitors, including Microsoft, Dell and HP, have already moved to Skylake processors. According to MacWorld, the new MacBook Pro 2016 is likely to feature the sixth generation Intel Skylake processors. Skylake chips will make the new MacBook Pro a faster machine, bringing significant performance gains.

Skylake, together with the El Capitan operating system, will improve efficiency and battery life. Tech experts expect that the new MacBook Pro will have a longer battery life to match the performance offered by the MacBook Air.

According to Yibada, one MacBook Pro rumor claims that the 2016 models will feature a touchscreen. The speculations go as far as saying that the touchscreen might even be detachable like in the Surface Book. Anything is possible, of course, but most experts would be surprised if this rumor proves to be true.
