'Preacher' Pilot Episode at SXSW: Tom Cruise Surprises Everyone With His Appearance

Everyone who saw the "Preacher" pilot at 2016 South by Southwest (SXSW) in Austin, Texas on Monday, were up for a treat. The SXSW viewers were surprised to see a shocking Tom Cruise death scene.

According to Comic Book Resources, in the screening of "Preacher," attendees of the annual festival witnessed a scene depicting Tom Cruise's death. In the episode, a mysterious energy will posses preachers all over the world to suddenly explodes in a very sadistic way. It can be remembered that Tom Cruise is an active preacher and member of the Church of Scientology.

Evidently, the SXSW audiences were pleased to see the premiere episode of the "Preacher." In fact, they found the "Preacher" as a "fast-moving" television series that showed the first glimpse of Dominic Cooper as Jesse Custer, an exhausted and disloyal West Texas preacher who has a dark past.

Also, the "Preacher" debut introduced the characters of Ruth Negga as Tulip O'Hare, the badass former girlfriend of Dominic Cooper, and Joe Gilgun as the worn-out Irish vampire Cassidy. The "Preacher" is the television adaptation of the comic book series with the same title by DC Comics.

The "Preacher's" pilot episode was directed by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg of "This is the End." Sam Catlin worked as the executive producer and showrunner, per Entertainment Weekly.

Meanwhile, with the creative minds of Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, it was not surprising to see the "Preacher" to deliver a "dark and violent sense of humor." Their star powers, too, will make the "Preacher" feature A-lister celebrities who are hardly seen in television series.

Additionally, Sam Caitlin teases the viewers, saying that the "Preacher" will start to unfold as fast as "200 mph and [will stay] at 300 mph." The "Preacher" is set to be aired on May 22 on AMC after the mid-season finale of "Fear the Walking Dead."
