'Indiana Jones 5' Release Date, News & Update: Harrison Ford to Return with Steven Spielberg

Walt Disney Studios officially confirmed in a press release that a major role is coming back in "Indiana Jones 5." The company announced that along with Steven Spielberg, Harrison Ford will be back in the fifth installment of the "Indiana Jones" franchise.

Walt Disney Studios Chairman Alan Horn said that it is hard to reject a "dream team" composed of Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford. "It's rare to have such a perfect combination of director, producers, actor, and role, and we couldn't be more excited to embark on this adventure with Harrison and Steven," he said.

According to Movie Pilot, Horn described "Indiana Jones" as one of the "greatest heroes in the cinematic history." That's' why Walt Disney Studios is eyeing to bring back "Indiana Jones" in theaters in 2019.

However, in the announcement of Walt Disney Studios about "Indiana Jones 5," they haven't said the involvement of George Lucas in the film. It has been known that George Lucas has already quit doing "big-budget" movies.

Also, George Lucas is not going to work in developing new installments of any movie franchise from Lucasfilm. Hence, this will be the first "Indiana Jones" film that will not be created by George Lucas, Screen Rant reports.

Meanwhile, Kathleen Kenned and Frank Marshall are also going to be back as the producers of "Indiana Jones 5." Karen Allen might reprise her role as Marion Ravenwood while Shia LaBeouf may return as Indiana Jones' son, Mutt.

"Indiana Jones" movie franchise first started in 1981's "Raiders of the Lost Ark" and followed by "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom" in 1984. Its third prequel is "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade" in 1989 while the last "Indiana Jones" movie released is "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" in 2008.

The entire "Indiana Jones" movie franchise earned almost $2 billion worldwide. "Indiana Jones 5" is planned to be released on July 19, 2019.
