'Destiny' News & Update: Spring Upgrade Drops April 12, Brings New Quest, Gear and Perks

Finally, Bungie has set a date for a “Destiny” update, and it’s coming real soon with real perks. So far, Bungie hasn’t been revealing any detail regarding the sequel for “Destiny” just yet, although some amount of info has been given already, reports Engadget.

Bungie explained in a blog post that the upcoming update, which is the first for the game this year, will be launched next month in April 12. This new “Destiny Update 2.2.0,” which folks at Bungie refer to as the “April Update,” will feature several things that avid players of the game will enjoy.

- First, there will be new Player Versus Environment (PVE) Challenges;
- Next, some new and updated gear;
- Then there’s a new quest revolving the mysterious Blighted Chalice Strike;
- Increases Max Light and Rewards;
- Some Sandbox and Crucible Updates, and more.

One good thing about the "Destiny" update is that it’s free for those who’ve already purchased or currently own “The Taken King.” "Destiny" players will remember that this time is different from last year, when players needed to get a season pass. This time, “TTK” owners will just have to wait for the update to be available, and download it.

Bungie also reminded "Destiny" fans and players to stay tuned as they have scheduled streams that will talk about various things related to the update. Here are the schedules on Twitch;

- “New Things to Do,” Wednesday, March 23 – 11:00 A.M. Pacific;
- “New Things to Earn,” Wednesday, March 30 – 11:00 A.M. Pacific;
- “Sandbox and Crucible Updates,” Wednesday, April 6 – 11:00 A.M. Pacific.

Bungie has not released any information regarding new game maps, new enemies or other content that was added to the "Destiny" game. The only thing they said is for fans to sit back and relax.

“The only thing you need to do in advance of the update is sit tight until April 12th,” the blog post read. “We’ll do all the heavy lifting for you.”
