Hugh Jackman Talks about His Cancer Scare

Hugh Jackman shared his recent skin cancer scare on social media on Thursday, according to Yahoo! OMG.

The 45-year old actor initially confirmed the frightening news that he has skin cancer. He posted a photo of himself on Instagram with bandages over his nose and captioned it saying: "Deb said to get the mark on my nose checked. Boy, was she right! I had basil cell carcinoma. Please don't be foolish like me. Get yourself checked. And USE sunscreen!!!" A physician assistant said this type of skin cancer is the most common type and it is normally found in places that are "heavily exposed to sunlight." Jackman has approximately a month to recover before he hosts TNT's 32nd annual "Christmas in Washington" concert, featuring performances from the Backstreet Boys, Anna Kendrick, Pat Monahan, Cheryl Crow, Janelle Monae and more.

Last month, another celebrity, Bruce Jenner revealed that he too was suffering from basic cell carcinoma on both of his cheeks and nose, according to E! News. "It's all sun damage from the 60s and 50s when I was competitively water-skiing and living on a lake and all my training outside. Nobody wears sunblock back then. I first had one here, just a little red spot. It's a basal cell carcinoma, which is a - basically it is a skin cancer, because it doesn't heal."

"On the nose, I had a little red spot. The problem with the nose is, there's no skin to cover it up, to cover up the hole. Then I had to go to a plastic surgeon and he does this whole procedure where he cuts the skin off your nose and replaces it. So it's a little bit more complicated just to fill the stupid little hole," Jenner added.
