Easter Bunny And A Father Charged With Assault And Disorderly Conduct After Brawl

Kassim Charles, 22, and Juan Jimenez-Guerrero, 44, were charged with aggravated assault and disorderly conduct recently. Charles, who was dressed as an Easter bunny in observance of the Easter season this year, was involved in a brawl with Jimenez-Guerrero after his 1-year-old daughter fell to the floor after a photo op with Charles. The incident reportedly occurred at a New Jersey mall.

People reports that the brawl started when Jimenez-Guerrero's daughter had slipped onto the floor. The child was having a photo session with Charles at the time. When the father saw what happened to his daughter, he yelled at Charles and attacked him.

On the other hand, Charles retaliated according to the police. The security guards are trying to resolve the conflict while many people watched the incident unfold.

"It's Jersey's City, so we see fights all the time, but I was just kind of surprised something like that was happening in front of children," a worker from the mall who witnessed the brawling incident said. "I thought I have seen everything, but I have never seen a bunny fighting a man."

Both men were treated for minor injuries at Jersey Medical Center. They were also detained at the Hudson City Jail and will have their first court appearance on Tuesday. The incident was captured on video and was later posted on Twitter.

Noerr Programs, the manager of the Easter bunny program commented on the brawling incident. "The safety of the guest and cast members is of utmost importance," Programs said. He decided to assign other people who would serve as Easter Bunny.

Wikipedia states that the Easter Bunny,  also referred to as Easter rabbit or Easter hare, is an imaginary rabbit that brings Easter eggs to children. It is likened to Christkind and Santa Claus who brings presents to kids before their respective holidays.

Easter Bunny originated from German Lutherans. The Easter Bunny serves as a judge assesses the kids whether they are good or disobedient at the beginning of the Eastertide. The Easter Bunny would then give gifts or the Easter eggs to the kids.
