Body Odor is Caused by Internal and External factors

Perspiration or sweating is normal for all people. It is a way of regulating the body temperature when exposed to heat or when your body heats up due to strenuous activities.

It is also another way of our body to excrete excess and unnecessary fluids and minerals like heavy metals in the body according to Metabolic Healing page. Some people who sweat produces odor and some do not.

Why do some people have sweat odor? There are a lot of things that can cause sweat odor and the most common is the bacteria that are present in your body when sweating. Here are some reasons why your sweat stinks and ways on how to prevent it.

Causes:

1.      Skin bacteria

As explained by Antiperspirantsinfo page, it is a normal process where bacteria break down the secretions of your skin's sweat glands. Bacteria feed on lipids and proteins that are excreted when you sweat and this creates odor.

2.      Compounds excreted

When perspiring, the body also excretes compounds from our body. One example is a common acid compound called propionic acid which causes a sour odor like a vinegar.

3.      Eating Spices

A common example is eating a lot of garlic which contributes to an odorous sweat.  This is because of the allicin found in garlic. A compound that causes the pungent smell of garlic can be secreted by the sweat glands causing a strong odor.

4.      Irregular toilet habits

The waste that stayed in your system releases toxins going out through your skin pores. This causes a fecal body odor which is embarrassing. Holding your urine also causes body odor where a high concentration of ammonia is released through your skin pores.

Prevention:

1.      The best way is to sweat regularly. Perform an exercise that will sweat you a lot. The more you sweat, the more  waste products from your body are excreted

2.      Take toilet breaks if needed to remove body waste that can cause bad body odor.

3.      Take a bath regularly. This cleanses your skin all over the body from the external bacteria.

4.      There is always an option for you to smell good using perfumes and deodorants. Just use it moderately.
