Chinese Man Has His Heart in His Abdomen, Needs Immediate Surgery

A 24-year old Chinese man is suffering from congenital cardiac exposure syndrome which results to him having his heart in his abdomen, the Daily Mail reports.

Ho Zhiliang is awaiting surgery for his condition after dealing with having his heart in his abdomen for his entire life. His condition, also known as congenital cardiac exposure syndrome is a type of illness that kills more than 90 percent of patients at birth of shortly thereafter. After he was born, Ho's parents were warned that their son might not have a long life but he survived. After he left school, he worked as a barber and learned to live with his rare condition.

Earlier this year, Ho read a similar story of someone suffering from the same condition that had undergone a successful surgery to reposition their heart where it belongs. He then resigned from his job and transferred to Wuhan in the hopes of receiving the same surgery. The other man, Huang Rongming from Henan province in China underwent surgery to have his heart moved into his ribcage. He has also lived his entire life with the said condition because he could not afford the surgery until media coverage paved the way for him to finally undergo treatment.

"It's a dream come true. I am going to lead a normal life like everyone else," Rongming told China Daily. His surgery lasted for ten hours but it was also completely successful. His abdomen is now flat and his heart defect has been fixed. He has not suffered from any complication or side effects from the treatment as well. "I am now normal, thanks to the many kind souls," he added. Ho's doctors on the other hand are designing a plan for his own treatment.
