'Final Fantasy XV' Release Date, News & Update: Square Enix Game Will Take 50 Hours to Finish Without Sidequests, Says Tabata

For those who are still waiting for the long release of “Final Fantasy XV,” here's great news for you.

In a recent NicoNico Livestream by Famitsu, “FFXV” director Hajime Tabata shared some details regarding the game's development, reports Siliconera. The details are sure to make “Final Fantasy” fans happy.

First, Tabata revealed that it will take about 50 hours to complete or clear the game's main scenario. Take note that this does not include side quests.

Earlier, Square Enix expected the game's estimated clear time to be at around 40 hours. However, as development continued that game's volume increased, bumping the estimated clear time with an added 10 hours of playtime.

As for game content, those familiar with the cactus-like monsters found in earlier installments will be happy to know that Cactuars are making their appearance in “FFXV.” Tabata says that these Cactuars are powerful opponents who are able to dodge shift breaks.

An airship is also coming, and its introduction to the game has been planned to make fans go “this is the kind of Airship that should be in Final Fantasy XV,” says Tabata.

It has also been revealed that the developers are still working on the game but aren't in the finishing stages yet. It is reported that they are working on optimal balances in the game and aiming to maintain a 30fps framerate.

Tabata said that there are times that it goes above 30 but the devs will continue making adjustments “until the last minute before the game goes gold.” Should the devs be unable to maintain a 30fps framerate, Tabata said they will do something different instead.

He added that more information is going to be revealed this coming March 30 and 31 during the “Uncovered: Final Fantasy XV” event. A Japanese trailer, playable tech demo and the game's resolution is expected to be revealed by then. The release date might also be made known during the event, adds Attack of The Fanboy.

Square Enix is also working on the possibility of a PlayStation 4 Bundle version. “Final Fantasy XV” is currently in development for the PS4 and Xbox One.
