'Battlefield 5' Release Date, News & Update: New Game To Be Set In World War 1 Era

The plot of the much-awaited "Battlefield 5" has been kept under wraps, but there are rumors that it will be set in World War 1, as first hinted by DICE CFO Blake Jorgensen. "Battlefield 5" will be out this year, but as there are no announcements made yet, some assume that it will be moved to a later date.

According to Cross Map, fans are now a bit irritated because DICE is still being mum about the release of "Battlefield 5." "Battlefield 4" will mark its first anniversary next month and DICE is also set to launch its DLC pack on the said date.

Hence, this might mean that a new game is about to arrive. This is also affirmed by EA Games as they announced that they are looking forward to releasing "Battlefield 5" this 2016.

Moreover, IGN teased that "Battlefield 5" will feature its previous "military-themed roots" and will be set in World War 1. In fact, a Twitter user named Liam Robertson fueled the rumors and shared the listing of the upcoming games posted on the Swiss website, World of Games.

The listing first posted that "Battlefield 5" is a tactical shooting game in the World War 1 era. However, it has been eventually changed by removing the "Battlefield 5" synopsis, making everyone confused if it's a simple error or it's been taken out for giving too much detail, Ecumenical News reports.

This is not the first time that "Battlefield 5" has been rumored to be set in World War 1 era. Another listing from IMDb is seen in December with a title "Battlefield 5: Armageddon."

The site has a short description about the "Battlefield 5" storyline, which read as "[a] small town soldier who is in [the] battle for Japan." However, as expected, the said listing was also taken down by IMDb.
