'Star Wars Rebel' Season 2 Finale: Ezra Bridger To Face Darth Maul [Video]

The upcoming special finale of "Star Wars Rebels" will surprise everyone on the return of the Old Master. Darth Maul will be alive and will face Ezra Bridger.

According to Entertainment Weekly, a teaser video of the upcoming "Star Wars Rebels" season finale, entitled "Twilight of the Apprentice," showed a confrontation between Darth Maul and young hopeful jedi Ezra Bridger. Darth Maul and Ezra Bridger are both traveling around the remains of the Sith temple at the bottom of the surface of Malachor.

The teaser for "Star Wars Rebels" revealed that Darth Maul survived his death. Darth Maul healed his wounded body at the dark side of the Force and transformed his lower part by replacing it with "mechanical spider legs." However, the tragic experience Darth Maul had been through made him loose his sanity. Also, Darth Maul is angry at his former master, the Emperor, for isolating him.

Dave Filoni, one of the "Star Wars Rebels" creators, told Entertainment Weekly that he chose to add Darth Maul in the storyline to give more kick to "Star Wars Rebels." Meanwhile, Sam Witwer, who voiced Darth Maul in "The Clone Wars," shared how it is amusing to see the Sith Lord in "Star Wars Rebels."

"It's fun to wonder how much of what we're seeing from Darth Maul in this episode is him becoming more eccentric and older and wiser but also a little more frayed, versus what's play-acting," Sam Witwer said. Movie Pilot reports that Darth Maul might have reached the end of his powerful days, but he can still find a way to be powerful.

To recall, Darth Maul survived being cut in half by Obi-Wan Kenobi. Darth Maul lived alone with his judgment for over 10 years and obtained his "Force lightning-ed by Darth Sidious."

"Star Wars Rebels" final episode, "Twilight of the Apprentice," will be aired on March 30 on Disney XD. Watch the teaser video below featuring Darth Maul and Ezra Bridger.
