Microsoft Surface Pro 5 Release Date, News & Update: Windows 10 Redstone 2 Equipped Device Not Coming Until 2017

Microsoft Surface Pro 5 users had been desperately anticipating the release of the device, but Microsoft had not yet revealed the launch date. Earlier, it was reported that the flagship was coming out  in October.

The Microsoft Surface Pro 5 launch date was postponed to 2017 because Microsoft reportedly chose to focus its efforts on the Surface Phone for now. Recently, fans are now speculating that the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will only happen after the company's Surface Phone.

The upcoming Pro device will carry Windows 10 Redstone 2 operating system; however, reports have also surfaced that it was not ready also. Windows 10 Redstone 2's release will reportedly be merged into the launch of the upcoming Windows 10 machines, Inquisitr reported.

Microsoft Surface Pro 5 was rumored to be packing a rechargeable stylus pen, a compact charging dock, and a 6th-gen skylake processor. Also, a couple of weeks ago, U.S. Patent & Trademark Office had revealed a patent application from Microsoft which detailed the rechargeable Surface Pen and dock.

The company also announced that the stylus will provide active functionality that will be powered by a rechargeable battery. A charging circuit embedded into the stylus will provide charging current for battery power via one or more terminals designed to contact charging decks of an associated stylus charger. The device will also likely sport a 4K display.

Apple's MacBook and Chromebook Pixel came with USB Type-C port and this useful feature was passed on in Surface Pro 4, Mobipicker reported. Fans expect Microsoft Surface Pro 5 to carry a USB Type-C port.

The device was also rumored to come with 8GB of RAM and a storage capacity of over 500GB. It was also expected to feature productivity apps targeting businessmen and professionals. With this, Microsoft will go down the path that BlackBerry pioneered for the business class.

Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will be sold in three different designs. These three models will feature Intel i7, Intel Core iy and Intel Core processor. However, the price tag for these features is still left unannounced.
