'Call of Duty 2016' News & Update: Game To Be An Entirely New IP?

The debate is on as regards to what "Call of Duty 2016" will be all about. Analyst Michael Pechter shared his two cents about Infinity Ward's next "Call of Duty" game, which he believes will be a new an entirely new IP, if not a new "Modern Warfare" installment.

Pechter said that he will be "really surprised" if the game ends up being "Ghosts 2," which previous reports claimed "Call of Duty 2016" will be.

Interestingly, NSEA Voice is reporting that "Call of Duty 2016" will be subtitled "Bloodlines," a whole new "Call of Duty" IP. The publication claims it was supposed to be "Ghosts 2" but the poor reception of the game reportedly forced Activision to scrap the whole thing and start on a clean slate instead.

It has been suggested multiple times that  Infinity Ward might attempt to save the poorly-received "Ghosts" game by making an amazing sequel in the form of "Call of Duty 2016."

This is entirely probable. After all, titles like "Assassin's Creed" suffered a dreadful debut but were salvaged in the follow-ups.

"So we'll see how it is. Probably not 'Advanced Warfare,' and definitely not 'Black Ops,'" Pechter said via Gamingbolt about what "Call of Duty 2016" will be like.

"So what's left? Either a new IP like Ghosts, or go back to Modern Warfare, which I think they know how to do. So that would be my bet," the analyst continued, although noting instances why "Call of Duty 2016" will not be "Modern Warfare."

If "Call of Duty 2016" will be set in World War 1, as widespread speculations are suggesting, the shooter can't be a "Modern Warfare" installment.

He also believes that Infinity Ward will go for a World War 2 setting instead of World War 1. Even then, he thinks that "Call of Duty" fans will like it better if the game was a "Modern Warfare" title.

Lastly, Pechter surmises that whatever the game will be, the biggest risk in "Call of Duty 2016" as a whole is that it ends up being a "bad game again." However, with Activision's Dave Stohl at the helm, the analyst is confident "they'll probably do a good job."

"Call of Duty 2016" is expected to be released November 2016.
