'Digital Education' Dangerous Or Good? Creates Customized Lessons For Students But Parents Afraid Of Data Collection

One of the biggest thing to happen in today's generation is the easy access one can get from the internet. Before then, the internet was seemingly a brand new technology and was yet to be understood. Now, as the future becomes more and more progressive, the internet is being used now for digital media that can be of all different platforms and this include digital media for educational platform.

Many are concerned that using digital media as an educational platform may risk he students rather than helping them, especially that there has been a lot of data collection happening. However, by using the power of digital education, the lessons can be easily accessible to the student and they can well adjust the lessons to their understanding.

One math teacher from Miami's iPrep Academy commented on the ethical issues of using digital education, saying that it is actually a "smart program."

"It's about 70 percent online. And it's a smart program, and so it checks, are they understanding, are they answering questions correctly right away? Are they struggling? Is it taking them a long time to answer questions? Do they keep making mistakes?" Nicole Rasmuson of Miami's iPrep Academy stated.

In this way, what the students input on the digital education platform will be stored and will be adjusted to become customized lessons for the students to study again. But, along with that, the student's schedules, grades, discipline, records, homework and even e-mails gets uploaded to risking a variable factor of getting hacked.

"I'm trying to protect my kids, and there's so much data collection that's going on right now that we we're not even aware of," Suzette Lopez, a graphic designer and parent of a student from Miami's iPrep Academy, said.

Although with digital education, schools who have applied this are making sure that there will be no breach in their system and that the safety of their students are their number one priority.
