Michelle Obama Teams Up with Subway in Curbing Obesity Among Children

First Lady, Michelle Obama, recently teamed up with Subway for her latest marketing campaign aimed at promoting healthier eating habits to children, HNGN reports.

Obama was joined by athletes Michael Phelps, Justin Tuck and gymnast Nastia Lukin during a press conference at a Subway branch in Washington DC. She expressed her support on Subway's "Playtime Powered by Veggies" initiative. The $41 million campaign includes creating nutritious meal choices for kids by offering them with more fruits and vegetables.

"I'm excited about these initiatives not just as a First Lady, but also as a mom. Subway's kids menu makes life easier for parents, because they know that no matter what their kids order, it's going to be a healthy choice." Throughout the years, Michelle Obama has been very vocal about her desire to promote healthy eating because she wants to be able to see children grow up and make the right healthy meal choices every day. She has also encouraged a private sector to join her with her "Let's Move" campaign and Subway was one of the companies that took part of the initiative.

The partnership will run for three years making it the largest investment ever made on the part of Subway. As part of their commitment, the food brand will be posting signs that say "Playtime Powered by Veggies" on every door and will play a video of the Disney movie "The Muppets" alongside it. Subway will also be adding a meals especially created for kids as part of their new menu.
