‘Jeepers Creepers 3’ News & Update: ‘Cathedral’ Sequel Cancelled? Producer Stan Spry Addresses Fans’ Concerns

The first two installments of the "Jeepers Creepers" franchise have attracted a solid movie fanbase. Hence, it is not surprising that many horror movie fans are clamoring to see the upcoming "Jeepers Creepers 3" sequel.

"Jeepers Creepers" franchise mastermind and director Victor Salva was reportedly working to get "Jeepers Creepers 3" off the ground. Unfortunately, it's unclear whether full production was already underway since previous reports hinted Salva was having some difficulties in securing financial resources for the film.

Since "Jeepers Creepers 3" recently attracted a lot of controversy and debate, several fans expressed their concerns about the rumored cancellation of the sequel. According to Bloody-Disgusting, producer Stan Spry assured the fans that "Jeepers Creepers 3" is still happening.

Spry also explained the sequel's producers were looking for ways for "Jeepers Creepers 3" distribution in the United States. "Jeepers Creepers 3" cancellation might not also happen since they released a working title and poster for the sequel, Movie Pilot adds.

'Jeepers Creepers 3' Casting Call

Meanwhile, "Jeepers Creepers 3" cancellation reports came after Salva's child molesting past sparked concerns for the sequel's casting call in Canada. The Union of British Columbia Performers alerted talent agents of Salva's criminal past after he posted a casting notice on Breakdown Services.

Due to the union's alert, Breakdown Services took the casting notice from its site. The controversial casting call was in preparation for the "Jeepers Creepers 3" filming this spring in British Columbia.

"It has recently come to our attention that a casting breakdown has gone out for a feature film entitled 'Jeepers Creepers III,' and that the director of the film, Victor Salva, was convicted of sexual misconduct in 1988," the union said, Deadline quotes. "At this time we would like to remind our members and their agents that, under Article A2702 (Safety & Welfare of a Minor) of the BC Master Production Agreement, a performer has the right to refuse work if they believe that the nature of the work is unsafe."

In other related news, "Jeepers Creepers 3" is reportedly introducing new characters as the winged mythical cornfield creature goes back to hunting. Based on the IMDb message board of "Jeepers Creepers 3," the new characters include Kenny, Gaylen, Kirk Mathers, Addison and Sheriff Tashtego.

As for "Jeepers Creepers 3" plot, Salva previously teased that the upcoming installment will bring a "new and terrifying chapter from the Jeepers universe." Salva also hinted the return of the infamous Creeper's truck, Jobs & Hire reports.

"Jeepers Creepers 3 will show events on the last day of the Creeper's twenty-three day feeding frenzy, as the skeptical Sergent Tubbs teams up with a task force hellbent on destroying the Creeper for good," the synopsis of the movie read, as per Bloody-Disgusting. "The Creeper fights back in gory glory as its enemies grow closer than ever before to learning the secret of its dark origins."

'Jeepers Creepers 3' Release Date

No release date for "Jeepers Creepers 3" has been announced yet. However, rumors have it the sequel might hit theaters sometime in 2017 while filming reportedly begins this month.
