New 'Halo: Ground Command' Game Revealed: Prepare For A Return To Reach

The "Halo" extended universe continues to expand with news of the release of miniature game "Halo: Ground Command" by Spartan Games. The "Halo: Ground Command" will focus on the critical era of "Halo" universe history - the "Fall Of Reach" - via a two-player game with units and vehicles from the popular Microsoft and 343 Industries franchise.

Following on from their previous game "Halo: Fleet Battles," "Halo: Ground Command" will use 1/100th scale figures. Spartan Games said these will allow tabletop gamers to recreate the atmosphere of a large-scale "Halo" war zone.

Halo Waypoint describes the "Halo: Ground Command" experience. "From massive tank engagements at Szurdok Ridge to small groups of Spartans deployed in defense of New Alexandria, you are in control, making life-and-death decisions as a UNSC commander charged with the safety of this critical planet," the site states. "Or take the role of an alien invader, leading the Covenant invasion force as a field marshal ordered to exterminate humanity, at any cost."

The "Halo: Ground Command" game set is reportedly priced at $90. According to the Spartan Games site, the "Halo: Ground Command" set will contain a full color "Halo: Ground Command" rule book, statistic sheets (UNSC and Covenant) and reference sheet. The "Halo: Ground Command" game set will also include the following:

• 20x Custom Dice and 6x Halo Command Dice
• Game Tokens (Damage, Activation and Cooldown)
• Halo Scenery
• UNSC1,000 Point Battle Force - including 1x Officer, 1x Medic, 1x Radio Operator, 2x Snipers, 2x Spotters, 2x 2-manHMGTeams, 2x 2-man Missile Teams, 27x Troopers, 2x Warthogs (Gatling, Gauss and Rocket Weapons for each) and a 1x Spartan.
• Covenant 1,000 Point Battle Force - including 1x Elite Ultra, 2x Elite Minor, 3x Elite Majors, 6x Grunts with Fuel Rods, 24x Grunt Minors, 3x Ghosts with Grunt Operator and 2x Hunters.

"Halo: Ground Command" will integrate other extra units such as vehicles, aircrafts and infantry units such as ODSTs and Jackals and Elites. News of the new release, and pre-order details are found on the Spartan Games "Halo: Ground Command" web page.

Pre-order customers may choose either a Covenant Elite Minor or UNSC Trooper collectable figurine. "Halo: Ground Command" is scheduled for release this summer.
