Parents Of Black Students Not Confident In The Quality Of Education Given To Their Children

Education is a real hot topic in the current times because of all the changes happening to level up the quality of education. In a piece of this big topic, there has been an issue regarding the quality of education received by black students compared to whites.

A survey by The Leadership Conference Education Fund involving approximately 400 parents of black students, as reported by Atlanta BlackStar, found that around 332 black parents have said that schools for black students are not getting enough funds for a better education quality compared to schools for whites.

Sixty-six percent of the respondents also said that the quality of education given to black students are lacking and 53 percent said that the country is not doing a good job in educating black students. About 90 percent of the total respondents said that they want their children well-prepared before they go to college.

With the numbers shown, it has laid out the idea that black parents really believe that there is a big disparity in the quality of education that their children are getting compared to whites. Parents of black students believed that their children are not encouraged enough by their teachers to perform well in school and because of this, black parents wish to see some improvements by putting up high-quality educators in public schools.

The Leadership Conference Education Fund has aimed to get the feelings of black parents regarding the quality of education given to the black students for the sole purpose of improving the quality of teaching. The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) which is a new federal education law will benefit to this. This will help policymakers make better decisions guided by the results of the survey.

Closing achievement gap in black schools has been a big problem faced by the National Education Association. The association said that black schools should set high and obtainable goals for a better education. There should also be laws and policies that should be enacted to achieve these goals. According to the same report, not only the educators and policymakers can make this a success but also with the help of parents too to achieve the good quality education for black students.
