Playstation 4.5 A Dud? Sony’s PS Neo Leaves Game Developers Unhappy

Playstation 4.5 or PS Neo, while reportedly an upgrade by Sony from PS4, is receiving flack from developers at the moment. Although the Playstation 4.5 offers additional GPU, CPU and bigger RAM, the PS Neo or PS4K reportedly has more than a few problem areas to it.

According to Playstation Lifestyle, Kinda Funny Co-Founder Colin Moriarty relayed that game developers are hard put trying to cope with the added work and cost that Sony's PS Neo places on them. Cost and planning are among the foremost concerns that plague developers for the Playstation 4.5.

Playstation Lifestyle also says that PS4 titles will be released with two modes once PS Neo comes around. A "Base Mode" will be intended for the use of those who stick with the original PS4 hardware while a "Neo Mode" will be intended to work with Playstation 4.5 or PS4K.

Hardcore Gamer points out that essentially game developers would have to develop separate versions of each game title for two systems if Playstation 4.5 is to launch. While no official word on pricing strategy has been discussed in the plan for Playstation 4.5, the fact remains that developers are worried about costing at this point.

Be that as it may, Playstation 4.5 is not without its merits. As far as players are concerned, performance and graphic fidelity strengths are among the come-ons of Playstation 4.5.

However, if developers are burdened by Playstation 4.5, how much success will PS Neo enjoy before the legitimate concerns seep through into the gaming experience? For the time being, Sony's hardware to Playstation 4.5 may be expected by the end of 2016 at the earliest or in the first quarter of 2017 at the latest.
