Prince Death Update: Singer Stayed Awake for Six Days Straight Before His Passing; What Caused His Death?

The detectives involved in the rock star's case were told that he was wide awake for "154 hours straight." The iconic singer, Prince was later found dead at his Paisley Park home in Chanhassen, Minnesota.

Mirror reported that the 57-year-old singer was found unconscious inside the elevator of his Paisley Park home. Prince was pronounced dead after the medics failed to revive him. Before his passing on Friday, April 22, some of his family members told the media that he was not able to get any sleep prior to his passing.

Prince's brother-in-law, Maurice Phillips, who is married to Tyka Nelson told Mirror that Prince was up for 154 hours. He cited that Prince worked straight for 154 hours. He then added that the singer was a good brother-in-law.

It was mentioned that one of the most puzzling scenarios that could have caused his death was his prescription. It was highlighted that his friends "fear" that his doctor might have over prescribed him, which led to his death.

Though his insomnia was pointed out, news emerged that it was somewhat contradicting as he was prescribed with a painkiller, Percocet. It was noted that Prince's prescription was responsible for keeping him up for almost six days.

As of CNN's latest update in regards to his death, it was revealed that his autopsy is already being processed. Prince autopsy won't be released up until it is completed which can take two to four weeks.

"We will not release information until the exam is complete and all results are obtained," the medical examiner's office said.

Though his cause of death was still unclear, the detectives are still studying the case since there were no witnesses when the accident occurred. Carver County Sheriff Jim Olson stated that there were no evidence that he was murdered as there were no signs of trauma.

"Because this was an unwitnessed death of a middle-aged adult, the decision was made to process the scene," Olson stated. "That is also normal protocol. It is not different from what we normally would do."
