'Jacob's Ladder' News & Update: 'Sleepy Hollow' Star Nicole Beharie, 'Grey's Anatomy' Actor Jesse Williams Joins Forces In Reboot

A "Sleepy Hollow" loss is a gain for "Jacob's Ladder" as the former Abbie Mills, Nicole Beharie signs up for the thriller film's remake. The "Sleepy Hollow" star is expected to bring the Nicole Beharie that fans love as she takes the lead with "Grey's Anatomy" actor Jesse Williams and Michael Ealy.

Fans can rest easy as the "The Jacob's Ladder" reboot will not try to duplicate the first film. Vanity Fair reports that the "Jacob's Ladder" is a modern-day take on the original film.

The rebooted "Jacob's Ladder," as an action-suspense story made sinister by dark paranoia, will center on Jesse Williams and "The Perfect Guy" star Michael Ealy. "Jacob's Ladder" will reunite Michael Ealy with David Rosenthal who was his director in "The Perfect Guy."

Expectations are heavy for the "Jacob's Ladder" reboot. This is especially so, as The Los Angeles Times points out, because the original "Jacob's Ladder" has been cited as a massive influence for TV and film.

Included the creative works that were inspired by "Jacob's Ladder" are "American Horror Story," "Silent Hill," and "The Sixth Sense." Even "The Simpsons" paid homage to "Jacob's Ladder."

Jessie Williams succinctly describes popular sentiment over "Jacob's Ladder." "There was nothing like 'Jacob's Ladder,' and there really hasn't been anything since," Jessie Williams said.

The original "Jacob's Ladder" was released in 1990. The first "Jacob's Ladder" film was directed by Adrian Lyne. Tim Robbins, Danny Aiello and Elizabeth Peña originally played the roles that Michael Ealy, Jessie Williams and Nicole Beharie will inherit.

"Jacob's Ladder" should be a worthy antidote for "Sleepy Hollow" fans. To now, "Sleepy Hollow" followers are still grieving the loss of Nicole Beharie as Abbie Mills in a surprise ending for the series' season finale.

Seeing Nicole Beharie up and about in "Jacob's Ladder" may somehow ease the pain that "Sleepy Hollow" left. The release date on "Jacob's Ladder" is yet to be announced.
