"Criminal Minds" season 11 is down to its last episodes. Unfortunately, it is still not confirmed if the show has been renewed for season 12. However, new reports suggest that "Criminal Minds" Season 12 is possible.

Erica Messer Teases About "Criminal Minds" Season 12

According to Enstars, in a recent interview with "Criminal Minds" showrunner Erica Messer, she teases that the show's finale will be a cliffhanger for "Criminal Minds" season 12. Does this suggest that the show has been renewed?

"It's a very team-centric episode, because 'stuff' is hitting the fan and we're at the center of it," Messer said. "And we're doing a [finale] cliffhanger of sorts, which we haven't done in forever. It's not a 'bomb goes off/who survives?' cliffhanger, but, 'Oh my god, we thought we won,' and by the end it's, 'Oh no, we're just getting started.' It's a really fun, fresh way to launch into Season 12."

In a separate interview, Messer also hinted that there would be a new BAU member in "Criminal Minds" Season 12, Parent Herald reported. "It [introducing a new BAU member] feels like something that would be natural to do in a premiere, just as we did for almost everybody else who has ever come in," Messer told TV Line.

Messer's statements reveal that she is hopeful for "Criminal Minds" Season 12. But at the time, there is no confirmation about its renewal.

"Criminal Minds" Not Yet Renewed

Deadline reported that the veteran show "criminal Minds" is doing well, but the show is expensive. CBS is covering the costs while the leading studio, ABC Studios, which co-produce with the network, reaps most of the financial benefits. Per the report, CBS and ABC Studio are hammering a new license for "Criminal Minds" franchise. At the time CBS is also monitoring the status of the "Criminal Minds" spinoff, "Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders" before renewing the parent series.
