Call To Celebrate: Kensington Palace Tweets About Royal Couple Kate Middleton And Prince William's Fifth Wedding Anniversary

In true millennial fashion, Kensington Palace is celebrating the fifth wedding anniversary of royal couple, Duchess Kate Middleton and Prince William, via the social networking giant, Twitter. The couple married exactly five years ago, April 29, 2011, in Westminster Abbey, at the watchful eye of billions of people all over the world.

On November 2010, news broke out of Prince William's engagement to his on-and-off girlfriend of nine years, Kate Middleton. The two met at St. Andrews where a fashion show graced by Kate in a see-through dress won the heart of the prince. The engagement soon drew media attention as Kate was not of royal descent and only the second time that a royal was marrying an ordinary citizen, the first of which was 350 years ago, according to The Guardian

The media frenzy further continued as wedding bells were about to ring on April 29, 2011. The whole world stopped as people were glued to their screens when the couple officially tied the knot and sealed a kiss in the balcony of Buckingham Palace in front of a million spectators. For the House of Windsor, this marked a modern awakening of the British monarchy. They were soon named as the Dutch and Duchess of Cambridge.

Five years later and the royal couple is still a press favorite. As global ambassadors of Britain, Kate Middleton and Prince William had been making official visits to North America, Asia, Oceania, and Australia. Furthermore, they added descendants to the royal line in the form of their offsprings, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

Despite news that the novelty of the couple had been wearing out in the past few months, according to Mirror Kate Middleton and Prince William are still committed to their roles of helping in Britain's diplomatic relations with other countries.

Their anniversary comes at a good time for the world to take notice of the couple again. The official twitter account of the Kensington Palace took fans back to memory lane as it gave honor to the couple's celebration of their fifth wedding anniversary.

In spite of their hectic schedule as ambassadors and parents, Duchess Kate Middleton and Prince William allot time for themselves. According to US Magazine, the couple plans to keep their fifth year wedding anniversary a "low-key, private" celebration.
