‘Zombieland 2’ Cast, News & Updates: Emma Stone Reprises Her Role? Production Rumored To Begin In August

"Zombieland 2" is one of the most-awaited sequels since the first movie premiered in 2009. While fans lost hope back then to see a sequel to the Jessie Eisenberg and Emma Stone-led comedy film, Sony unveiled the logo for the next installment. Will the original cast be back for the sequel?

The sequel to "Zombieland" is rumored to begin production in August, reports Cinema Blend. According to the publication, Bloody Disgusting delivered the news that various sites have already been doing casting calls for actors who would like to take part in "Zombieland 2."

Shooting for "Zombieland 2" is reportedly set to begin around August. The publication, however, notes that it is surprising to hear that Sony would already begin production for the sequel soon after unveiling its logo for the movie.

It still remains to be seen whether the original cast would be back for "Zombieland 2," especially because their careers have skyrocketed since they starred in the 2009 film. Bustle also notes that fans are definitely hoping to see Emma Stone back in the sequel as Wichita.

The 27-year-old actress landed major roles in different movies after her successful appearance in "Zombieland" such as "Easy A," "The Amazing Spider-Man" and "Crazy, Stupid, Love." Jesse Eisenberg is also slated to work on a comic-book project while Woody Harrelson has landed several roles in TV shows and movies.

Stone also has a handful of projects and movies to work on in the future. The publication notes that Stone has been recently announced to play the role of Cruella De Vil for the Disney live-action movie, "Cruella."

Aside from this, she will be playing the role of Billie Jean King in "Battle of the Sexes," which is slated to premiere in 2017. Stone has also recently debuted her dark brown hair and bangs, which stirred speculation as to whether her new locks was related to her role as Billie Jean King or if it had anything to do with her role in "Zombieland 2" as Wichita.
