Everything You Need To Know About 'Battlefield 1' From EA DICE Lead Designer Daniel Berlin

The exciting trailer for "Battlefield 1" may have already released, but the new EA DICE video game is still shrouded in mystery. There are only a few details known about the first-person shooter game set during World War I, but lead game designer Daniel Berlin has decided to share some information about the highly anticipated "Battlefield 1."

Why World War 1?

Daniel Berlin recently spoke to VentureBeat, where he revealed how EA DICE came up with the idea for "Battlefield 1."

"When we set out to create a new Battlefield game, we look at gameplay first. We need to support the main Battlefield pillars in terms of gameplay," Berlin said. The lead designer also stated that the World War 1 setting for "Battlefield 1" was something they had wanted to work on for some time.

"There were a lot of people at DICE who'd wanted to go to this era for a long time. It's a passion project for us this time around," he said. "DICE chose the setting. This is what we want to do."

Revisiting The Past

Daniel Berlin also shared that "Battlefield 1" is not an alternate look at World War 1. "It's definitely rooted in history. There's no alternate mix of anything else," he said. "All the stuff you see is equipment that was available. All the vehicles you see were available at this time."

The EA DICE game designer also confirmed that "Battlefield 1" will not be moving back in time. "No time travel," Berlin revealed. "This is our depiction through a modern lens, looking at World War 1, the Great War."

Will Battlefield 1 Have A Megalodon?

Fans may also be wondering whether "Battlefield 1" will feature a World War 1 megalodon. Although Daniel Berlin did not confirm the possibility, the game designer did address that it would be something to ponder about. "I can't say anything about that, but it's the most important question," he stated.

Gamers might soon find out if Battlefield 1 will have a World War 1 megalodon. A playable version of "Battlefield 1" will be made available on June 12 in time for the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3). "Battlefield 1" will be released on October 21.
