‘Supergirl’ Season 2 Cancelled On CBS? Executive Producer Talks Show’s Renewal Hopes

The future of "Supergirl" Season 2 is still up in the air, as CBS has not yet issued an official renewal order for the show. While it remains to be seen whether the network would renew or cancel the show following its first season, executive producer Ali Adler recently talked renewal hopes for Season 2.

Fans are still awaiting news regarding "Supergirl" Season 2, as CBS remains tightlipped about the show's future on TV. Bustle notes that fans should remain optimistic that the show will get renewed for Season 2 if statements from the series' producers are to be taken as major hints.

CBS has already announced the renewal of some of its veteran series, while the future of its rookie shows such as "Supergirl" and "Limitless" remain uncertain. Executive producer Ali Adler previously shared in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that the network is interested in making the show last on TV.

"We all have to be positive," said Adler. "I think Les Moonves was speaking to someone and just candidly said, 'All freshmen series are returning,' and I hope he meant us."

Co-executive producer Andrew Kreisberg also shared in a separate interview that "Supergirl" Season 2 will feature a "more mature, and a bit more of a cohesive character." This made a lot of fans optimistic that the show will be renewed for another season.

Meanwhile, there have been talks that "Supergirl" Season 2 may be renewed on The CW instead. Collider notes that the reason for the delay in the announcement of the show's renewal is the price tag that comes with the show's licensing fees with Warner Bros.

Every episode of "Supergirl" is said to be worth three million in licensing fees alone. Moving to The CW would, therefore, reduce the fees given the network's ties with Warner Bros.
