European sperm donor fathers 98 children, does it the 'old-fashioned' way

Europe's most generous sperm donor, a Dutch man named Ed Houben, has fathered 98 children and counting.

Houben started donating his sperm to a sperm bank in 2002 but he now donates sperm - for free - the natural way, according to the BBC. Although a virgin until the age of 34, he is now regarded as the most fertile charitable sperm donor in the world, helping lesbian couples trying to conceive, as well as single women, and heterosexual couples suffering from fertility issues.

Houben said that instead of donating his sperm using syringes, he helps women become pregnant the old-fashioned way, which he believes has "a much better chance of conception."

"People probably think, 'oh, he has sex without responsibility,' but usually I'm the only person people can talk to if it doesn't work," he said.

Houben's youngest child, his 98th, is named Matilda and is the daughter of a 28-year-old nursery nurse who always wanted to be a mother, but could never find the right man.

She explained that she and Houben got to know each other first before actually having sex.

When asked what about those women who have actual partners but can't conceive, Houben explained: "They are beyond these feelings of 'ooh there's a stranger sleeping with my wife.'"

Houben has even gone the extra mile to keep a list of mothers he's had sex with and children that are a product of his charitable donation so as to prevent any mix-ups in the future.

"If later on, one of my children meets someone who doesn't know who his natural father is, he can consult this list," he said.
