'Castle' Cancellation News: Stana Katic Responsible? Nathan Fillion In Shock Over End?

"Castle" is being shut down after eight seasons and leads Stana Katic and Nathan Fillion are under the microscope over the show's painful end. "Castle" season 9 had been a hopeful possibility despite Stank Katic being given the boot and Nathan Fillion having to take on sole lead.

New York Daily News, however, reports that season 9 is not to be and "Castle" has been cancelled. With the news, both Stana Katic and Nathan Fillion said goodbye to "Castle" fans separately.

Stories circulated about the long-time conflict between Stana Katic and Nathan Fillion at the "Castle" set. When news broke out that Stana Katic had not been given a new "Castle" contract, Nathan Fillion and co-star Molly Quinn only gave comments about her exit.

For all appearances, Nathan Fillion and Molly Quinn seemed to be gearing for the continuation of "Castle." Just Jared reports that although Nathan Fillion posted messages about the "Castle" cancellation with trademark humor, the "Firefly" star's comments also hinted at more.

"Dear Every Director, It appears I have an opening in my schedule," Nathan Fillion wrote. "Dear Fans, In whatever project I do next, loudly notice how unlike Castle and fresh and versatile I am."

Was the second message a veiled response to a feedback that Nathan Fillion may have received about his "Castle" character? Another interesting bit on the "Castle" development is how Stana Katic released a hand-written second thank you and goodbye for fans.

Stana Katic gave her thanks and goodbye to fans immediately after the announcement that Kate Beckett would no longer be returning to "Castle" next season. Did Stana Katic accept Kate Beckett's fate in "Castle" as peaceably as the public was made to believe?

The "Castle" season 8 finale is expected to have a strong viewership. After 8 years of "Castle" adventures, Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic will bow out together from the ABC show.
