The "Descendants of the Sun" fever is still alive. After bidding goodbye in the small screens last month, fans are now looking forward to "Descendants of the Sun" Season 2. According to reports, there is a big chance that KBS will renew the series for a new season.

'Descendants of the Sun' Season 2 In The Works

According to Soompi, the head of KBS' drama department, Jung Sung Ho has already expressed his interest in giving the audience "Descendants of the Sun" Season 2. The KBS head recognizes the success of the show and aims to repay the viewers by treating them with a new season.

"We want to repay viewers with the next 'Descendants of the Sun.' We are grateful to viewers, overseas fans, staff, and actors. The drama was more than a domestic syndrome; it established a third wave of Hallyu," said Jung Sung Ho. "KBS will strive to produce a second "Descendants of the Sun" to meet expectations and repay viewers."

'Descendants of the Sun' Plot May Feature Seo Dae Young and Yoo Myung Joo

The "Descendants of the Sun" co-writer Kim won Suk previously announced in a separate report from Soompi that he has no plans in writing for another season."I have no plans for a second season. I've already told the story I wanted to tell. I hope that Yoo Si Jin will lead a happy life in the future without any more trouble," he said.

Thus, "Descendants of the Sun" season 2 will not be a sequel to the first show. Also, they are still not sure if it will still be a story of a soldier as they are still discussing it. However, Jung Sung Ho revealed that since "Descendants of the Sun" is the top drama, the next project will follow it closely.

As for the "Descendants of the Sun" season 2 plot, per Vine Report, there are rumors that it will feature the romance of the military couple, Seo Dae Young (Jin Goo) and Yoo Myung Joo (Kim Ji Won). In the first "Descendant of the Sun" season, their story ended with Seo Dae Young getting the approval of Myung Joo's father. Thus, it makes sense that the new season will unveil their relationship.

"Descendants of the Sun" season 2 is expected to return in 2017.
