While it remains to be seen whether Efron's attempts of reaching out to his former girlfriend will work, fans began wondering whether "High School Musical 4" can pave the way for the former couple's reunion.

It has been quite awhile since Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron were seen together in public as a couple or as co-stars. When Disney announced that "High School Musical 4" was in the works, many fans began to hope that their dream to see the former couple back together would finally happen.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, the 27-year-old actress admitted that she was excited to learn that Disney will be doing "HSM 4." Hudgens shared that she still sings tuned from the franchise from time to time.

"Sometimes, someone will be like, 'We're all in this together,' and then I'll be like [starts singing]," she said. "It's like reflexes."

As most fans of the popular Disney franchise know, Hudgens and Efron first met on the set of "High School Musical" and played lead roles of Gabriella and Troy, respectively. Their relationship went on for five years until their split in 2014.

While Hudgens has already moved on and has found love with her boyfriend, Austin Butler, a recent report from OK! Magazine claims that Efron wants to get back together with his ex-girlfriend. According to Hollywood Life, the 28-year-old actor has been calling Hudgens in an attempt "to win her back."

The "Baywatch" actor is allegedly trying to get in between Hudgens and Butler's relationship in hopes of rekindling his relationship with his former girlfriend. Butler has reportedly told Hudgens to stop answering any of Efron's calls because he already knows what the actor is up to.
