Recovering From Addiction:Know The Dangers Of Using Synthetic Drugs And What It Is Made Of

The use of synthetic drugs is more dangerous than using the real drug itself. Recovering patients from The Open Door Mission, a non-profit and privately sponsored rehabilitation center on Houston's end, opened up about the dangers of using synthetic marijuana.

The Effects Of Synthetic Drugs/Marijuana

David, a recuperating synthetic drug user, explained that the effect of synthetic marijuana is 10-folds compare to the authentic one. He also added that if the person using it is really not into smoking, there is a chance they'll feel paranoia, hearing and seeing unreal things, according to abc13.

Doug, another recovering patient, described that synthetic marijuana's result can be very extreme. With only one or a couple of hits, it can make one high and knock him down.

However, the effects of synthetic drugs vary from person to person. Some remain quiet and in aimless thought while other can have seizures. It also can affect one's muscles to break down and experience kidney failures, Dr. Shannon Rickner with the North Texas Poison Center at UT Southwestern in Dallas noted, CBS DFW noted.

Purchasing Synthetic Marijuana

David revealed that synthetic marijuana can be easily purchased compared to any other drugs. It, too, is more affordable, for only a dollar, one can buy a joint and a bag for just five dollars.

In fact, an interested buyer of synthetic marijuana doesn't have to look for it as someone is going to approach him if he looks like using one. Doug, on the other hand, unveiled that he's getting synthetic marijuana in local convenience stores.

Elements Of Synthetic Drugs

CBS DFW added that the effects of synthetics drugs are impulsive. It is mostly made of the chemicals seen in K-2, N-Bomb and Bath Salts while other substances are from China.

The brokers of these synthetic drugs mixed all these components together with solvents and cover it with either leaves or blotter paper. Dr. Kristina Domanksi with the North Texas Poison Center at UT Southwestern in Dallas clarified that the production of synthetics drugs has no quality control.

"There is nothing to say that the chemical your getting is the one that was advertised on the website," she said. "So, people really are taking a gamble."
